Aged Timber starts and ends with love. Graduating from Berkley with a degree in Pharmacology E. George was always fascinated with how things work; experimenting with traditional alchemist properties in his work serving as a pharmacist in Northern California. After years of running a successful community pharmacy George took over Thorngate Manor Carriage, an opportunity which allowed him to match his love for working with his hands and his knowledge of ancient alchemy and potions.
Initially Thorngate Manor Carriage catered to local farmers, ranchers and riders, building and repairing wagons, tac and bridle equipment. After years of continued excellence at Thorngate Manor he was approached by the movie making industry to build and restore wagons, carts and other props used in period pieces. The work required a skilled eye and devoted hands to match in color, finish and era. The precision E. George provided was sought after and revered by many in the industry and by someone even closer to home.
From an early age Greg Glasnow, E. Georges grandson spent summers working alongside his grandfather. He adopted the ancient methods alchemy which his grandfather used for creating dyes, while being instilled with his grandfathers love of working with his hands and his commitment to excellence.
At age 18 Greg received his flooring license. At 19 Greg he opened his first shop selling carpet, flooring and installation services; in the beginning he even called it home sleeping in the backroom. As the business grew Greg looked to take advantage of the opportunities he saw in the hardwood floor market. In 1979 Greg sold the store and started installing his own hardwood product, a new venture and promising chapter in his life, one of creativity, unbounded possibilities and unbreakable family ties.
In 1987 Greg met Donna, an ambitious and gifted NCAA gymnast & coach who immediately recognized Gregs talent and potential. In no time the two were married and began the start of an incredible journey with Donna directing day to day operations of their business as well as their growing family, Greg poured his inherited zeal for woodworking learned from his grandfather into new methods, techniques and products. The business naturally began to flourish. It was in 2000 that Aged Timber was truly born.
